Bacon and Egg Chronicles: Salvatores Cafe

Bacon and Egg toastie sandwich from Salvatores Café

Having arrived uber early at work today, I went for a little wonder around our beloved and incredibly sticky and humid city. Where haven't I been that does a made to order bacon and egg toasted sandwich? Salvatores Café sprung to mind. I ate there a couple of weeks back and luuurved it, surely then their B&E sanga would be just as eggsellent? (Haw haw!) I made my order, plonked myself down and waited about 5 minutes before the beautiful beast pictured above was laid down before me.

It's big, thanks to the chunky and crusty bread, there's plenty of bacon, one egg, plus a generous and not-so-healthy smackering of deliciously evil butter. All the makings of a potential champ in other words. So is it good? Yes, it's damn good, and for $7.50 it better be! So good in fact, that by the self appointed power vested in me, I'm to crown this the new champ of bacon and egg toasties in Darwin, toppling the long reigning number one from The Gourmet Deli just down the road.

This is history in the making folks. It's the bread that makes the difference. Bacon and eggs are the same wherever you go really, so it comes down to the choice of bread (and butter of course). The big chunky bits of white crusty goodness perfectly balances the salty bacon and savoury egg and is a fantastic vessel for all that butter. Orgasmic breakfast porn.
