Bamboo Lounge - Lunch

Bamboo Lounge - momo I've wanted to try out Bamboo Lounge for a while now as a few people have suggested it. It's a mid range take away / cafe / restaurant situated in Tipperary Waters next to the place that does epic chips AKA The Chook Shed. The interior is nice-ish, mid range, neither fancy or cheap. The couch / booths on the far wall look interesting so we grab a seat. Little bubs loved playing on the seats. Plenty of room for her to sit and cause chaos with not too much danger of her falling off. Take note, the couches are back to back so if there's someone behind you, you may accidentally head butt them if you are't careful. There's a breakfast menu with the usual suspects, but being 11.30, we opt for lunch. The menu is an East meets West situation with a decent selection from either cuisine to select from, you can view the menus on the Bamboo Lounge - Spring rolls First up was some spring rolls and momo - Nepalise dumplings ($9). The spring rolls were nice, better than you're average garden variety vegetarian ones, these had a little meat in them and were nicely cooked. The dumplings were also lovely. Not your typical Chinese style, these had some nice exotic spice action happening. My latte ($3.50) had great foam but was a bit too milky. Bulgogi Korean BBQ roll My main was the bulgogi beef roll ($9). It would have been OK except for the fact that the bread was stale to the max, well beyond it's usefulness as a tool to hold together sandwich ingredients. I could have gotten better use out of it by tying one half to each of my feet and using them as comfortable slippers. Bamboo Lounge - Nasi lemak Wife had the Nasi Lemak ($17). The presentation is quite nice, I give it an S for Sexy for the use of fresh banana leaf and lovely arrangement. The sambal was full of punch and chili, whilst the sides were good at filling the gaps. The beef rendang was most likely reheated from yesterday's batch in a microwave. That doesn't bother me, probably makes it taste better if anything, but it came out room temperature. Not nice as a result. Warm food should be eaten warm, just sayin'. The solitary prawn cracker would have cracked your teeth if you had tried to eat it. My little girl made her debut reviewing for Darwin Foodies. We got her The Egg Chiffon with Chinese BBQ pork and rice ($15). A huge dish for a 10 month old baby but I don't think I've ever seen her eat so much in one sitting before. Evidently she liked it a lot. I ate the rest of it seeing as my so called bulgogi roll barely touched the sides, and I can confirm my daughter's findings. Whilst the egg component was just OK, the gravy type sauce and the BBQ pork made it that much better. Despite a few hiccups, I wouldn't be deterred from returning. There is are a few other items on the menu that get my taste buds salivating and the booth seating is soooo comfy.
