Sumatra Cafe

Chili eggplant, beef rendang, chicken curry

Selamat siang! After reviewing Sari Rasa last week, I've decided to give some lovin' to the other Indonesian eats around the CBD. Today's lunch was at Sumatra Café, Anthony Plaza Smith Street Mall. Come lunch time, they're always full of eager curry fans so get in early to grab free table.

These guys have a large range of Indonesian regulars in their bain-marie, but for comparisons sake I went with beef rendang, chili eggplant and spicy chicken curry. Compared to Sari Rasa, I prefer the eggplant here better as it has more chili flavour. The beef in the rendang at Sumatra Café isn't quite as pull-apart, but flavour wise has the same level of awesomeness. The chicken I'll call a tie. $10 will get you two choices plus rice and $12 will get you three. Go for the latter as your taste buds deserve it.

If I had to pick from either Sari Rasa or Sumatra Café, I'm going to pick the latter. The location is more convenient for most and they have more dishes to pick from. Can't go wrong with either place though.
