Amma's Cafe

There's good choice in the city for Indian, Malaysian and Thai curries, but not too long ago a Sri Lankan cafe opened up in The Vic Arcade offering some mighty tasty and mighty spicy curries. That place would be Amma's Cafe.

Ducks Nuts Bar & Grill - Breakfast

I usually arrive in the city quite early on Friday mornings, so I recently used this opportunity to treat myself to breakfast at Ducks Nuts on Mitchell Street.

Cove Restaurant - Breakfast

I think I've unwittingly committed myself to reviewing every Eggs Benedict on offer in Darwin. This time I'm at Cove Restaurant at SkyCity Casino on a quiet early Sunday morning.

Airport Tavern

Well the Airport Tavern (formerly the Airport Hotel bistro) invited me for dinner and reckoned I had better bring my appetite. Challenge accepted.

Pavonia Place

There's a new restaurant that I've been hearing lots about and that would be Pavonia Place in Nightcliff. I finally got around to stopping by for dinner – I sure took my time because it is only a few minutes drive from my place in Coconut Grove.

Cafe Bellissimo - Breakfast

It's early morning and I'm on the hunt for some breakfast. I take the short route from home and head for Cafe Bellissimo at Jape Homemaker Village - let's see how the breakfast here holds up.

Char Restaurant Darwin

Valentine's Day was just this week if you didn't know, a day where the ladies are treated to expensive romantic dinners. Except I didn't take my wife out. Valentine's day is just way too commercialised, especially by restaurants with their ridiculously priced set menus. Fast forward a few days later, I instead took her to the multiple award winning fine dining Char Restaurant in the Darwin CBD.

The Precinct Tavern

One of the largest dining/wining/pub/bar joints in the Top End, if it weren't hidden behind trees you'd be able to see The Precinct Tavern from the other side of the harbour. Half restaurant, half bar, half pub, half club, this place breaks all the rules of entertainment and mathematics in one go.

Pee Wee's at the Point

Ok I haven't been to Pee Wees before, but I hear about it all the time. Fancy place with great food yada yada. Whenever I hear the words "fine dining" I think finite amount of food on an infinitely big plate. Let's see if Pee Wee's at the Point lives up to the hype...

The West Winds Gin

If you're being sober look away right now. It's the middle of the week and I'm off to go drink some booze at The Deck Bar where Jeremy, co-founder of Aussie distillery The West Winds Gin, is enlightening us on the history of gin and how his company is shaking up the Aussie spirit scene.

The Jetty Restaurant

It's been a while since I was last at The Jetty Restaurant, a buffet restaurant resting beside/slightly over the ocean at the entrance to Stokes Hill Wharf. As per usual form, I stuffed myself silly.

The Office - Breakfast

It's been a while since my last visit to The Office on Cavenagh Street. I believe it has actually changed owners at some stage since then, so I was wondering if the breakfast would still be any good. The answer is yes.

Vietnamese Saigon Star

The wife and I ended up here after looking for a place to eat a late-ish dinner. Darwin's oldest serving Vietnamese restaurant, Vietnamese Saigon Star has been providing relatively cheap meals for as long as I can remember.

Hot Tamale

Hola amigos! I was planning on dining at Manoli's Restaurant but they were closed for today out of the blue. Darn it! Instead I detoured all the way down to the Darwin Waterfront to check out the new and sexy Mexican restaurant Hot Tamale.

The Cavenagh - Steak for dinner

As you may be aware by now, steak and I have not had a good relationship when dining out, so it was with much trepidation and only after lots of internal debate, that I headed to The Cav to chow down on some brown cow for dinner. Fingers crossed.

The Roma Bar - Breakfast

Eggs benedict. I can't seem to get enough of it, loaded with calories as it may be. But I'm not counting. The Roma Bar on Cavenagh Street near the Darwin Bus Terminal is on my tasting plate this time and I'm instantly impressed...

Cafe 21 - Breakfast

A truck driver was blocking entry into my car park the other day, so I went for a walk to go get some breakfast instead. I ended up at Cafe 21 at the top of Smith Street Mall, which is probably the...

Bellakay Indonesian cafe

Indonesian and Malay cuisine is increasingly becoming more popular around Darwin and the latest taste bud contender is Bellakay in the Centre Point Arcade, Smith Street Mall.
