Bellakay Indonesian cafe

Indonesian and Malay cuisine is increasingly becoming more popular around Darwin and the latest taste bud contender is Bellakay in the Centre Point Arcade, Smith Street Mall.

il Piatto at Skycity Casino

With various restaurants, bars, a club, a hotel, a resort, kick ass events and of course the gaming areas, Darwin Skycity casino is its own self contained universe. I've eaten at Evoo, Dragon Court and Sunset, but this was my first time at il Piatto.

Noodle House Mitchell Street

Noodle House is one of the more upmarket Chinese restaurants in Darwin and it's been a while since my last visit. The food here is the usual Chinese fare, but always tasty and rarely disappoints.

Dolly O'Reilly's Irish Pub

I heard on the grapevine that Dolly O'Reilly's Irish Pub in Leanyer has gotten a whole lot fancier since their recent renovations. I've been running out of places to review so I thought why not, let's stop by and check it out.

Finlay's Joint Cafe

Travelling far and wide to review the gourmet delights of Darwin and surrounds, this weekend took me all the way to Palmerston to check out Finlay's Joint Cafe. This one has been on my list for a while but the stars aligned and I finally stopped by for a bite to eat.

The Vault - Breakfast

I reckon I've found one of the cheapest cafe breakfasts in Darwin - The Vault. Sandwiched in between a bank and financial advice company, their name is fitting, perhaps the cafe stores their beans in the bank vault next door to achieve maximum quality coffee.

Diamond Kitchen Chinese Restauraunt and Take Away

Diamond Kitchen in Nakara has been a bit of a hidden gem as I drive past the area everyday but have never taken the short detour to check this place out. But I do like Chinese food and it was only a matter of time before I stuck my head in the door.

Kewpie mayonnaise

The Japanese have mastered the art of electronics, cars, weird stuff, raw fish and last but not least, mayonnaise. The most popular brand in Japan is Kewpie, and lucky for us folk down under, you can get it at any decent supermarket these days.

Darwin Bake House

Darwin Bake House has finally opened their doors and are offering freshly baked bread, pies, biscuits, giant croissants, the biggest lamington slice the world has ever seen, cute Danish pastries, donuts and more.

Vietnamese pork bun (Banh bao thit heo)

I prefer my food freshly made and not frozen, but there are exceptions. One of those would be these Vietnamese pork buns (bánh bao thịt heo) that you can get from the Sabine Supermarket on the Sabine Road.

Zchilli - Black Star Sweet Chilli Sauce and NT BBQ Sauce

Craig over at Zchilli dropped off a bottle of Black Star (Sweet Chilli) and NT Barbeque Sauces, made from Trinidad Scorpion (ButchT) Chillis - the world's hottest chilli. Let's see if these two are as good as the SIN sauce I reviewed not too long ago.

Java Spice

One peek through the window and you'll see why you'll want to have your coffee have-here instead of take-away. Decked out from floor to ceiling with lavish Asian inspired decor and elegant crockery to boot, this surely must be the nicest place in Darwin to sit down for a cuppa.

Oishi Ya - Japanese in the City

There's a new Japanese restaurant in Darwin, I sat my bum down for some lunch during the week to check out what they had on offer. They're located in the Mitchell Centre where Chianti's used to be so they're in prime position for the lunch time crowd.

Tim's Surf and Turf

We felt like some Australian food this time around and ended up at Tim's Surf and Turf for dinner. It's kind of hidden away, but that's one of the appeals of this place. With a combination out outdoor and indoor dining, big shady trees and no street traffic, it makes for a really relaxing and casual place for dinner.

Zhen's Kitchen

One of my regular lunch providers, I've been going to Zhen's Kitchen for donkeys years. Now I'm not sure how many human years that converts too, but it would probably be in the order of 5 or so since it first opened doors.

Coffee Club Darwin Waterfront

Date breakfast once again, this time at the Coffee Club Darwin Waterfront. The word on the street is that this particular branch does great food compared to its other siblings scattered about Darwin, good excuse to go down and check it out then.

Gourmet Deli

It only recently occurred to me that I haven't given these guys a proper review yet. Especially weird considering it's one of my go to cafés for a breakkie BLT, bacon and egg toastie or for a quick lunch.

The Potato Man

Eating baked spuds on a Sunday evening by the sea side whilst watching the sun set. If that doesn't sound like a good idea to you than you have serious issues. Darwin food hall of fame contender, The Potato Man, has been been roastin' them potatoes since the late 80's whilst I was still learning how to count to 10.
